As I was catching up on blogs the other day, I came across a post that Garr Reynolds wrote on his Presentation Zen. He highlighted a animated short film that illustrated the power of visual images amplifying a narrative. The animation is called “I Met the Walrus,” and it was nominated for an Academy Award.
The film is based on a 1969 that then 14-year-old Jerry Levitan conducted with John Lennon. Working with a reel-to-reel tape deck, Jerry snuck into Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. Almost 4 decades later, Jerry has produced a film based on the interview using the original interview recording as the soundtrack for a kaleidoscopic animation.
There at least two things I found fascinating about the
interview. First, in just a few minutes it give insight into Lennon’s thinking
at the time. Secondly, I thought it was telling the when he wanted a complete
contrast to Hitler and evil, Lennon thought of Christ. No matter what’s
happening in popular culture, Jesus remains an iconic figure. The world can’t
stop talking about him.
