I have just agreed to lead the Western Iowa Synod’s Fall Spirituality Retreat for pastors and other rostered leaders. The theme for the retreat will be pilgrimage. That’s a topic that I’ve been thinking about for some time and I am really looking forward to leading a retreat focusing on the nature of pilgrimage.
One way that individuals have sought a deeper connection with God is through pilgrimage, undertaking a sacred journey. At the retreat, we will talk about pilgrimages and trips we have taken or hope to take, about ways to make all travel sacred, and how we might view all of life as a sacred journey toward our final destination, to that place that the Lord has prepared for us.
I am looking forward to my personal preparation for the retreat and to what I and the other participants can learn together about this practice.
